I've tried Congee Wong a few times before and found the food to be great but service poor. This time, I tried Congee Dynasty because it's close by. Similar to Congee Wong, Congee Dynasty's food is hearty and its portion huge.
Our shredded chicken & duck with egg super bowl congee came quite promptly. I loved the roast duck in the congee, making it something special. It was just the two of us eating and when we were finished we had two container-full of congee left, and we are no lightweights either. I was not exaggerating when I said the portion is huge.
For the side dishes, we ordered the deep fried squid tentacles and the fried chilli turnip patties (without the chilli). I found that the tentacles were not crispy enough on the outside and too chewy like it's been overcooked. The patties, though, were great, it was soft and delicate on the inside, and crispy on the outside. We opted for the chilli-less turnip patties because I had really spicy food the day before and just wanted a non-spicy, soothing meal, which I did get.
What makes Congee Dynasty different from Congee Wong is the service. It's not that Congee Dynasty's service is particularly exceptional, but because its location is not in a busy centre, the waitperson have more time for you. With that said, some can still be rude, just like any other chinese restaurants.
