chicken with worchestershire sauce

After a few weeks of sabbatical (having no internet at home is a pain in the you-know-what), I finally got the time to go to a wi-fi hotspot that has the s-l-o-w-e-s-t internet connection ever, it is free after all. So here it is, my posting, a recipe for chicken drumsticks with Worchestershire sauce.

I am not sure where the recipe for chicken with Worchestershire sauce (ayam saos inggris) is originated from. But it was probably of Dutch / British origin modified into the Indonesian taste and sensibility. We never have this at my house, I was introduced to it by my cousin and loved it. He cooks it better than me somewhow, but I do try my best. Practice makes perfect is what they say.

Chicken drumsticks with Worchestershire sauce
by cousin lim

  • 750g chicken drumsticks/wings, washed with vinegar
  • 1 brown onion, sliced thinly
  • 1tbsp garlic, minced
  • butter
  • canola oil

  • 2tbsp garlic, minced
  • 2tbsp Worchestershire sauce (I like the Lea & Perrins brand)
  • salt & white pepper to taste
  • 1tbsp canola oil

  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 4tbsp Worchestershire sauce
  • 2tbsp sweet soy sauce

  1. Marinate the chicken with the marinade mixture for 15 minutes or more
  2. Deep fry the chicken drumsticks / wings until just fully cooked through, set aside
  3. Discard the frying oil and clean the burnt bits with a paper towel, heat 1 tbsp of canola oil and 1 tbsp of butter on the pan, saute the brown onion on low heat until they are translucent. Add 1 tbsp of garlic, saute a further few seconds
  4. Add the sauce mixture to the frying pan, followed by the chicken. Stir to coat the chicken pieces
  5. Serve with a bowl of steamed rice

  1. Looks delicioussss to me. What nostalgic.. Haven't had this in a long time! Somehow this menu is out of the picture at places I hung out in Jakarta, just couldn't find it anymore. I might try cooking one of these days :P

  2. ^_^ don't forget to call me, when you do! I'm always up for a free feed
