maki maki all-you-can-eat

My previous experience with all-you-can-eat sushi is minimal. The best I've had was in Western Australia at a restaurant called Shimizu. Although I found that Shimizu was not as good as Maki Maki.

There are a few reasons why I liked Maki Maki more than Shimizu. Maki Maki had a lot more variety in their dishes. The dishes were also prepared fresh when we order. When we were there for lunch, there were probably four other tables with customers, but it was not bustling busy. Service was efficient and courteous.

The restaurant itself was not big, but I don't think it needed to be for where it's located. It was decorated with red/orange colour palette and a mish-mash of red lanterns & Japanese screens. Not the most authentic, but then again the restaurant itself was not an authentic Japanese restaurant. I heard Cantonese was being spoken by the manager / waitperson / chefs. But let me tell you that that did not diminish the quality food I enjoyed there.

I liked almost all of the dishes that were served to us. But the dishes I liked the most were the juicy grilled salmon neck, the tempura udon, and the really yummy BBQ eel & avocado roll. I actually had two servings of the BBQ eel & avocado roll because they were that good. We finished the meal off with a serving of refreshing green tea ice cream.

For a $12.99 per person lunch, I think we got a really good deal. I was very satisfied with the meal. I have to tell you that you would get more variety in the dinner menu, but I would rather have the lunch for half the price of the dinner.

  1. Have you tried 168 Sushi (Japan Buffet) or Momiji AYCE Sushi??

Just want to have a point of reference that I can relate to!

  2. No, I have not. But what I can say is I think Maki Maki is good value. Not sure what Momiji's and 168 Sushi's lunch prices are.
