lemonny blush potato salad

This is a normal potato salad, with a tiny itsy bitsy twist.

oven-fried fish with fennel crust

Continuing on my addiction on fish lately, I did another hunt through my recipe books and found this fabulous fish recipe with crunchy breadcrumbs crust. It's so easy to make, yet so satisfying. It's as good as KFC, yeah, I said it. Unlike the chicken, this is most definitely healthier. And it's fast become one of my regulars.

kailis bros fish café blue crabmeat & linguini pasta

A week before Christmas, my sister rang up Kailis Brothers Fish Café to book us a table for Christmas Eve at 6pm. She was told that it’ll be super busy and that we have to be prompt if we didn’t want to lose our table.

We were a bit surprised when we arrived at the restaurant in the early afternoon at about 5.50pm that the restaurant wasn’t that crowded, with plenty of empty tables all around. The waitperson showed us to our table as soon as we told them who we were. My nephew and brother-in-law went next door to have a look at all the seafood in the Kailis Bros Market, meanwhile I accompanied my sister to our table.

charles inn dining room english style breakfast

The morning after our intimate civil ceremony, we had breakfast at the Charles Inn Dining Room. As a guest in the inn, we received the standard complimentary breakfast, which included bagels, cerals, etc. Every guests were also served a breakfast platter, which had yummy strawberry muesli yoghurt, cuts of cheeses, croissant & pain au chocolat, and smoked salmon with capers. All very yummy and got my taste buds going.

charles inn dining room roasted breast of magret duck

We recently had our civil ceremony in this beautiful British inn called the Charles Inn. We had the place virtually to ourselves as it was the low season. The hotel staff was attentive, courteous and friendly. Eventhough the weather wasn't on our side (it was pouring buckets), I couldn't have asked for a better day.

We were so pre-occupied the whole day that we went straight to dinner without having lunch. We were starving. Luckily, we were the first to arrive for dinner. The waiter was attentive, prompt and cheerful, he took the time to explain everything to us.

The Charles Inn Dining Room, like the rest of the hotel, was decorated in this tasteful, elegant way, with crystal chandeliers hanging on the ceiling.

gordon ramsay plane food fresh fruit salad

Fresh fruit salad - £5

We did not go to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant because it was a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. We went there because there was no other restaurant in Heathrow airport that served light breakfast. We just landed from Paris and my stomach was so unsettled that I just wanted a bowl of fresh fruit salad. It was only here that we found it.

The restaurant was decorated in the clean, modern style with plenty of light from those wide glass walls. Breakfast was pretty quiet, the waiter & maître d' gave us their full attention. Our order of fresh fruit salad, classic breakfast, toast and preserves came quite quickly. We were in a hurry to catch our next flight, so every minute counted.

windsor three little piggies

One of my best friends in the world got married on one sunny-but oh-so-windy day in Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth. It was an intimate ceremony with closest friends and family. It was quite special. And afterwards we had a boisterous lunch at the Windsor, as we are a boisterous bunch.

The Windsor is a restaurant of modern settings with a water feature and a library to boot. That Sunday, we came in before lunch time and lucky that we did because the place soon filled up and was packed when we left, but not in a I-can't-move-an-inch kind of packed, because the place was anything but cramped.

clairault aromatic pressed pork

It's a bit chilly tonight, like last night. This weather is calling me to have a sip of my Harmans Ridge Estate Megan Salmon Sparkling wine. It's not my most favourite, as it is a bit dry. I am a bit of a sweet tooth.

One of the things I promised myself do when I went to Margaret River, was to eat in a winery restaurant. I did just that with Clairault. The restaurant was set on a heavy wooden deck surrounded by majestic Marri trees. Inside there was a fireplace, which undoubtedly will be lit during winter. When we were there, the sun gave us plenty of warmth. I found the place quite formal, but interestingly rustic at the same time.
